“From every mountainside, let freedom ring.”
~
Martin Luther King Jr.

“Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it.”
~George Bernard Shaw

Happy Independence Day!!!

I hope everyone is staying safe and staying cool. We’ve been in the low three digits a few times this month, so our AC is working overtime, as is everyone’s I’d assume. It feels like the days are getting longer, the weeks getting shorter and the months just blend together now.

This month is my birthday. My 45th actually. GAH! It’s also my “middle” sister Amy’s. Mine is the 13th, and Amy’s is the 14th. Same week, same month, and yes even the same year. Yup. Not joking. Our dad was a very busy teenager… There were certainly no six feet apart measures being observed that year! Ironically you would think that having two kids, two days apart would be enough of an oddity to make him remember our birthdays correctly, but nope. He always mixed them up or called us late… I miss giving him a hard time about it.

All Things Writing:

As I continue with my new year and new me. I’m still bringing you more books and authors to love with another author swap newsletter mentions and to bring a new author to our loyal followers. As part of my new year, new me plans, I want to continue this. I think it’s great to be able to bring as many new authors and books to our readers as we can. And Sharing is Caring… So I’ve reached out to some of my author friends and hope to continue bringing you great authors each month.

Jackie Sheats: Graphic Artist Extraordinaire, Amazing Illustrator, Paranormal Author

In Jackie’s own words:

J.N. Sheats is an artist turned author. Living in Maryland with six wild cats, and her husband, J.N. spends her days designing book covers and teasers for other authors. At night she is at the mercy of her demanding characters, and their wild fantasies. Dark Paranormal Fantasy is her preferred genre of writing, but anything is game. Maybe even a lovely romance novel or two in the near future. When not writing, designing, or drawing, J.N. spends her time doing a host of other activities, including gardening, jewelry making, cooking, and watching far too much television.

With him comes equal servings of joy and pain, and memories of the bond she and Claude once shared. Is love enough? Can love prove powerful enough to resurrect two damaged hearts? Travels and Adventures:

This summer has pretty much been the same. Everyone got impatient, things started opening up, the virus spiked and now they are shutting things back down again. Sadly I don’t see our summer progressing as we’d hoped. I was scheduled to go to a book conference in San Francisco this month, and another in Las Vegas in November. The July conference is now going to be a virtual event, and I’ve canceled my trip to Vegas. While it breaks my heart, I had been looking forward to seeing all of my peeps, and catching up especially on hugs, but it’s not to be, so we’ll just have to hope things improve by 2021.

Animal Antics:

Rubi and Harry just chilling out. Making us laugh all the time.

A New Creative Space:

With the warm weather kicking in and my excitement about replacing the window with the glass door, I’ve started to play around in the backyard a little more. I attempted to plant poppies, none took off, they just withered and died. Story of my life when it comes to plants. I really do have the blackest of thumbs. Our Salvia exploded, become far bigger than we ever thought possible, and we didn’t know we were supposed to trim and manipulate it to make it stay a smaller size. So it got big and heavy, and during the last heavy winds, most of it just snapped and broke, leaving it a stub in the ground! But it’s already starting to grow little sprouts so we hope to do better this time.

But that said, I’ve been buying pretties. Eventually, when the door goes in, I’ll have a great view of a handful of pretty garden decor! I’ve lined these up against the back fence, where I’ll be able to see them every day.
