Independence Day
The fourth of July is a great day in many ways. We celebrate our Independence as a Nation, we gather our friends and family’s together and spend the day swimming and barbequing and of course drinking!
However there are down sides to this day. We see indifference to stupid inexcusable behavior. We learn second hand later in the evening that even with a house full of people, a young man felt emboldened to slap around and verbally abuse his ex-girlfriend in front of their young daughter. And she didn’t feel empowered enough to do anything about it, for her sake or for that of her daughter.
After the end of the festivities our designated driver carted us off home. And…
That’s when the fun really began.
Our two dogs that had been locked in the house in the bedroom, air conditioner on high, and TV turned up on the Animal Planet, the baby gate in place, they were good to go!
Unfortunately for us, Mr. Murphy one of our constant houseguests, struck again. Our DVR shut down into sleep mode after a period of time of no action.
The dogs tried to climb their way out of the room via the closet. We’re not quite sure where they got that idea it was an exit. Tore out the bottom two sections of the clothes. I see closet doors in our future!
And after a minor/major smelling accident, they broke through the baby-gate and escaped.
After that they were apparently fine as there was no other destruction zone in the whole house. We think that doggie sedatives are in their future for next year. We’ll have to consult the vet next visit. As they get older and more sensitive to loud noises it looks like we will have to try something different. Last year there were no mishaps, they were happy puppies when we came home.
And the cat, she decided to mark her territory in the spare room. Lots of laundry followed of course.
The joy of pets! It’s really never a dull moment with these guys.
