April Showers… Where… Did I miss it?
Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light.
~Theodore Roethke
April Showers… Are finally happing… Welcome to California, where it only rains when you don’t want it too!
Hello, my fellow book lovers,
I hope that all of you are staying safe, warm, and hydrated while we work our way through this pandemic. I know many are over panic buying, while others are not taking it seriously at all. Please take a deep breath. We are all in this together. And we will get through this.
United We Stand. Divided We Fall. That has never been truer than it is today.
I wanted to take a moment to shout out to all of our brave heroes on the front lines of this mess. From our truck drivers, and delivery drivers, postal service, our restaurants, and grocery stores, to every member of our medical staff and first responders everywhere. And of course, our military members who have forgone personal time off because of safety measures.
Most of the time we take these men and women for granted because they’ve always been there in the background and rarely noticed or appreciated as much as they should be. So please be patient, show some respect and appreciation and remember that we have to support each other.
Each time over the last month I’ve said thank you to my cashier’s, baggers, the general staff I’ve seen stocking shelves and moving pallets. I said thank you to the people working at the American Red Cross where my husband and I donated blood. And I sent a short and personal email to each one of my five main doctors to tell them that I appreciate them, that I love having them as my doctors, and that I look forward to seeing each of them come the fall.
Someone from Italy mentioned that we should let our doctors know how much you appreciate them now before they begin the hell of endless shifts, and thousands of patients all at once. Before this pandemic breaks their hearts and scars their souls. Because it will. They are heroes. But they are human too. They will stay away from their families for days, weeks if not months, to protect them while caring for everyone else.
So take a minute to breathe for yourself and pray for those around you.
In the meantime, I’m sending you some more free books from solitary confinement.
All Things Writing:
Now more than ever I want to bring as many new authors and books to our readers as we can. And Sharing is Caring… So I’ve reached out to some of my author friends and hope to continue bringing you great authors each month. So far I’ve gotten great support and many have agreed to participate.
Morgan Malone: Seasoned Romances
In Morgan’s own words:
Author Bio:
Morgan Malone is a retired counsel and administrative law judge who is thrilled to be pursuing her life’s dream: writing romance! She currently lives near Saratoga Springs, NY, with her adopted black Labrador Retriever, Princess. Her children and grandsons live nearby.
Morgan has always written Seasoned Romances because “love, like wine, gets better with age.” All her heroes and heroines are over 35 and many are in their forties and fifties. She loves second-chance romance, love lost and found and falling in love for the last time in your life tropes. Her characters have a little silver in their hair, a wrinkle or two and some baggage, but they all end up with very sexy love scenes and a “Happy Ever After.”
Morgan’s message to all of you:
I am sending good wishes and prayers out to everyone during this difficult time. Our romance community is known for its kindness and generosity and it is more than evident during these days.
Many authors are offering free books or are including their books in Kindle Unlimited. I’m happy to offer Unanswered Prayers, the first romance I ever wrote, for FREE from April 3-7.
It’s a seasoned romance (the main characters are over 35) and it’s pretty spicy, to take the chill out of these last days of cold weather. And the story is set in 2001, another time of crisis and compassion in America. All I ask is that you please leave a positive review on Amazon, Goodreads or your own website, blog or FaceBook page.

Blurb:
A determined woman’s dream…
For Sophie Compte, everything she’s ever wanted is in the palm of her hands. Her long-time beau has proposed. The wedding of the century is coming together nicely. Her father is handing over the daily operations of their horse breeding farm to her and her fiancé.
A stubborn man’s plan…
Claude Durand finally found the courage to slip the ring on his childhood sweetheart’s finger. It’s not that he had ever doubted he would. He just needed time to make something of himself that was independent of his life on the Compte family horse farm.
A world turned upside down…
For Sophie and Claude, their relationship has been a roller coaster of drama and hardships. Now though their time has come. Everything is as it should be. In an instant, everything crashes leaving a pile of rubble in the place of their hopes and dreams, and they are left to question if life will ever be the same. Faced with battered dreams, and forgotten love, they must decide if they can let go of what once was, and push towards a future neither had ever expected.
Travels and Adventures:
We are dreaming of the beach and looking forward to being back to normal soon. Right now we are staying put where it’s safe and warm.
Animal Antics:
Happy Birthday Rubi and Misty!
Rubicon is turning one! While she’s no longer a baby, she’s still a handful like all young hyper dogs are known to be. Eventually, she’s going to wear me out I’m sure.
Our feral cat Misty is eighteen years old this month. We adopted her and her brother together shortly after we got married. They never wanted to be inside so we let them become outdoor-only cats, and they’ve been far happier. We bought Misty her own cat condo and warming blankets etc. She’s a seriously skittish cat so we just let her do her thing. She loved my father, and he was her person. She loved sitting by him and being pet by him more than anyone else.
A New Creative Space:
There is still no headway on the color scheme. But I am currently working on convincing the husband that we NEED to change the ceiling fan to match the one in our bedroom. He is currently not on board at all. His canned response these days is “it’s not in the budget!” GAH!
Tell me what you think. Maybe if more people agree with me, he will re-consider it! https://www.minkagroup.net/f888l-cl.html
I’m also hoping to convince the husband to let me upgrade the TV as well. I really was hoping for a new curved TV but they aren’t making many of them anymore, so I’m looking at a standard HD 4k model, not over the top etc. Since this is my office. This is what I’m looking at to put in the office. Tell me what you think.
To keep up with all of the changes, and make suggestions, tell me what you like or don’t like, all suggestions are welcome, follow my board on Pinterest here: New Home Office
