Love is in the Air
Happy Valentines Day!!
I hope all is well in your world and that you are planning the perfect date night. Whether it’s at a fancy restaurant with your significant other, or a quiet night at home with the ones you love, including the furry ones, or just a fantastic book to keep you company. I hope your plans, whatever they may be, bring you peace and joy.
My husband and I have exhausted the interest to brave the crazy crowds to have dinner at a local restaurant, now that most of our favorites are no longer open, preferring to stay home, and have a nice dinner with a good bottle of wine, and catch up.
For some, it’s a made-up holiday, and it shouldn’t count. For others like me, I see it as a little nudge to remind us to take a breath and enjoy a moment with those that matter. Sometimes its self-care, and sometimes it’s care of others. It doesn’t have to be about the big-ticket items like chocolate, and jewelry, or even chocolate jewelry, hint, hint, or fancy dinners and expensive wine, but hey, those are all good too.
As a writer of romance stories, who am I to judge a day that says, “Tell someone you love them, even if it’s with a cheesy note the size of a baseball card!” So, go, be happy, and give someone a hug, they could probably use it.
Animal Antics:
This month I thought I’d tell you a little about our cat Peabody. Named after a favorite character, Amelia Peabody, a Victorian-era archeologist in the Amelia Peabody Mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. She came to us as a little spitfire of three days old in late 2015. I had to do a crash course in how to bottle feed, and care for a newborn. Her nickname is Bitchy McBritches because she’s just the meanest little thing to just about everyone human. One of the sweetest creatures you will ever come across to other animals, a gentle mama cat to the three other kittens that came after her, and a great friend to the Calico that was here first, but to people, she’s a viscous clawer, scratcher and biter… But we love her anyway.
