A Two-Part Father’s Day Tribute

I am seriously behind in sending out my blog and I am sorry for that. It has been a long hard road to walk this last month, and I’m slowly pulling out of my funk. We have managed to fill a lifetime into two weeks, so I apologize in advance for the plethora of posts that will follow.

We left Las Vegas early Sunday morning, (This will be explained in the next post! Please be patient while I do things a little backwards this round.) and drove through Nevada, Arizona and into New Mexico before stopping for the evening in Albuquerque. We set up the camper and called it a night right after dinner. Up early the next morning shortly after the sun came up, driving through Texas in a mere two hours, and making it to Claremore, Oklahoma before dinner.

Welcome to the world Baby Noah.

Noah-2

The newest addition to our family, Noah Beau Baca was born on May 20th, 2015 at 11:21 a.m., to Matthew Baca and Ash Barros. Mommy and daddy joke that he wasn’t born as much as “harvested” since he came into this world after an emergency C-Section. The plan was a natural birth, but after twenty-four hours of labor, doctors decided it was in both mom and babies best interests to do the C-Section.

He arrived weighing 8.10 pounds, and 20 inches. He has his dad’s eyes, hands, and of course his incredibly long feet and toes. But daddy thinks Noah looks far more like mommy. One thing is for sure he certainly is a beautiful little boy.

Watching my husband holding his newborn nephew warmed my heart. He has such a wonderful way with babies, it’s always saddened me that he was not able to reconcile his warped past in order to move forward and have a family. He is so good with children that he is someone that should have had more of them.

It was a blessed experience to watch Uncle Alex, and Uncle Jeremy, Daddy Matt, Mommy Ash, and of course Mimi hold baby Noah, feed him, talk to him and be there every time he fussed. I think the munchkin knows what he’s doing because he easily wrapped the family around his little fingers. A little fuss and someone was always there to see to his needs! It really was precious. I admit I was guilty of this as well, because every time he squeaked I couldn’t help but wonder what he was up to.

The pooch Mini is not all that impressed with the attention being diverted from her to the newest addition but she has adjusted well.

The whole family came to dinner on Wednesday evening. The Great-Grandparents Cecil and Maxine, as well as Aunt Penny came over to visit. Ash went to take a quick nap after dinner since nights aren’t made for much sleeping these days with little Noah up every couple of hours.

Driving away and leaving them all behind was very hard, hugging my Mother-In-Law good-bye brought tears to my eyes and a crack in my heart. Having the heart of our family so far away has been harder than we thought possible.
